Continuing the Tarot Astrology series for this year, I will be showcasing a tarot astrology profile of each astrological sign and it’s corresponding major arcana tarot card.
For October 22nd/23rd-November 20th/21st, I will be discussing the sign of Scorpio, it’s tarot water element of Cups, and it’s tarot card of influence, “Death”.

SCORPIO CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the qualities of Pluto (which governs transformation and the beginnings and ending stages in life) and Mars (which governs passion and energy), Scorpios are passionate individuals, intuitive, and unyielding in their ways. Its duality is of feminine energy and its natural element is Water. The Scorpion is the ruling symbol that signifies the mysterious and impassioned emotions of this curious seeking water creature. It is the second Fixed sign (first being Taurus) of the astrological cycle. Scorpios are seen as “idealists” in their perspectives. They have a deep intensity in knowing the underlying mysteries of human existence. The Scorpio “♏️” symbol shows flowing curved lines representing bonding emotions and the “tail” is directed to achieving levels of higher consciousness.
TAROT CARD: Death (13) The Death card is ruled by the planet Saturn (which governs discipline and limitations). This is a time of releasing old patterns and restrictive habits to allow regeneration of the true ‘Self. Through confrontation and resolvent of these core issues, this will give a new perspective on how one sees their own ‘Self and the freedom to develop a healthy direction within one’s life.
SEASON OF INFLUENCE: The month of Scorpio runs October 23rd-November 22nd. The season it influences is mid-Autumn.
LIFE PATH NUMBER: “9”. For its benefits of healing, determination, and generosity. Scorpio encompasses and confronts these attributes within its life path. “9” can help balance the Scorpio’s emotional characteristics with courage, compassion, and wisdom.
DAY OF THE WEEK: Tuesday (ruled by Mars). The driving force into the work week ahead. A day of productivity, competitiveness, and determination. A time to activate new ideas and building strategies at work and/or within one’s career.
COLOR INFLUENCE: Crimson, Burgundy, Maroon. The deep colors of passion.
PERSONALITY: “I DESIRE” – Using emotions to control what your heart truly “desires”. A passionate drive towards self-fulfillment is what characterizes a Scorpio.
OPPOSING TRAITS: Jealousy and ruthless with the potential for being vengeful. It is either all or nothing. Subtly looks for the weakness in a rival and then unexpectedly lashes out.
RULING BODY: The sex and reproductive organs. This is where the life-producing energy is the most powerful of this sign. Ruled by transformational Pluto, Scorpio has the regenerative forces to recover from illness and injuries better than the other astrological signs. Though heed caution when dealing with stress and emotional challenges. This can cause over exhaustion to the spiritual well being of many Scorpios. Plenty of rest, exercise, and relaxation are needed to create balance within this sign.
ASTROLOGY’S EIGHTH HOUSE: In Astrology, Scorpio rules the Eighth House of “Sex, Death, and Rebirth “. The eighth house is the second mystical house (the others are the fourth and twelfth houses) that governs the beginning and ending phases that we go through in life. Also, this house rules secrets. What are we keeping to ourselves and how to connect to those inner depths of our ‘Self. This house also rules legacies. What we may materially and spiritually inherit. It is the house of psychic energy and metaphysical knowledge and practices.
PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card to Scorpio’s Death (13) is “The Emperor” (4). The Emperor is ruled by the planet of Mars (representing structure and willpower). The Emperor is the ideal companion for the Death card as the Emperor represents discipline and inner strength. Death represents a transformation and a release of old ways into a new perspective. The Emperor guides Death towards creating a focussed path built around structure and discipline. Maintaining this will allow growth and willpower of one’s higher ‘Self. The challenge is to remain fully dedicated through this transformation.
The opposing (polar) card is “The Hierophant” (5), which is ruled by Scorpio’s opposing sign of Taurus (representing fixed Earth) and the planet Venus (representing receptive energy and new beginnings). As Death is known for personal transformation and growth, “The Hierophant” influences the Emperor through structure and traditional values. By instilling a strong belief system, the Emperor can utilize this perspective into their leadership qualities. The Hierophant benefits from The Emperor by maintaining a clear order of thought and action from which to create form and function. These aspects will guide The Hierophant to instill inspiration in others through manifesting personal (intuitive) spirituality.
