Continuing the Tarot Astrology series, I will be showcasing a tarot astrology profile of each astrological sign and it’s corresponding major arcana tarot card.
For November 21st/22nd-December 19th/20th, I will be discussing the sign of Sagittarius, its tarot fire element of Wands, and its tarot archetype card of influence, “Temperance”.

SAGITTARIUS CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the qualities of Jupiter (which governs optimism, good fortune, and expansion). Sagittarius qualities are those filled with an ambitious drive, adventurous spirit, optimism, and open-mindedness. Their duality nature is masculine and its natural element is Fire. “The Archer” is the ruling symbol that signifies aiming toward higher goals, direct in its actions, and a risk-taker of challenges. It is the second Mutable sign (first being Gemini) of the astrological cycle. The Sagittarius “♐️” symbol represents the Archer’s arrow aiming up toward higher knowledge and ideals.
TAROT CARD: Temperance (14) The means of creating balance and unifying opposing forces. A time of optimism and mind-expansion in areas that are to benefit one’s own well-being. It is the space “in-between” the opposing forces that have to be addressed so that these polarities can be understood and become harmonious within one’s existence. By following one’s intuition with Temperance, you can create a powerful means of balancing the differences in one’s life.
SEASON OF INFLUENCE: The month of Sagittarius runs November 21st/22nd-December 20th/21st. The season it influences is early Winter.
LIFE PATH NUMBER: “3”, represents creation, higher spirituality, and success. This is an individual who easily manifests a progression of fortune within its life and lives life to the fullest extent. “3” is a number of harmonious balance and takes a perfectionist approach in its achievements.
DAY OF THE WEEK: Thursday (ruled by Jupiter). The most productive day of the week for business dealings, financial tasks, and investments. Socializing and promoting activities are best emphasized on this day. Any of these goals done on Thursdays can benefit with long term results.
COLOR INFLUENCE: Primarily Purple, and the deep hues of Amethyst, Ruby, and Turquoise. These colors influence the realm of creativity, idealism, wisdom, and self-awareness.
PERSONALITY: “I UNDERSTAND” – Sagittarians are seekers of wisdom and comprehension. They will explore various facets of this through a change in their environment and an interest in the unconventional to expand and reveal their perspective on things. This incites the inquiring mind of a Sagittarius.
OPPOSING TRAITS: Impatience; if a Sagittarian isn’t doing something productive they can become frustrated and easily bored. They are multi-taskers who, at times, tend to not finish what they start. Arrogance; they speak their minds as they see it and may come across conceited at the expense of others. They can over exaggerate a situation and make something more than it is. Irresponsible; can take things or others for granted or at their own risk.
RULING BODY: The liver, hips, and thighs. Sagittarians are prone to overindulgence. By maintaining a balanced healthy diet and outdoor exercise will protect and strengthen these ruling body parts. Avoid excessive drinking and heavy foods. A vegetarian-based diet mixed with some protein can be a good dietary foundation. Also, meditation and breath work will calm any excess energy that can’t be expelled.
ASTROLOGY’S NINTH HOUSE: In Astrology, Sagittarius rules the Ninth House of “Mental Expansion and Long Distance Travel”. Within the Ninth house interests in travel to foreign countries and in-depth studies in philosophy, higher education, and spiritual exploration. This is the discovery of “mind expansion”. Foreign travel and business ties in foreign countries are strong in the Ninth house. This house is the “extension” of the “Third House of Communication” ruled by Gemini which is Sagittarius’ opposing sign.
PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card to Sagittarius’ Temperance (14) is the “Wheel of Fortune” (10). The Wheel of Fortune is ruled by the planet Jupiter, which is Sagittarius’ ruling planet (representing changes, success, and high energy). The Wheel of Fortune is the ideal companion for the Temperance card as it is the initiator of karmic changes and cycles; whether for good or bad and remaining optimistic. This causes Temperance to adapt, create balance, and to flow within shifting circumstances; some that may be beyond your control. The Wheel of Fortune is letting Temperance know that action is needed within the expansion and balance of one’s ‘Self in reaching their fullest potential.
The opposing (polar) card to the Wheel of Fortune is “The Lovers” (6), which is ruled by Gemini (mutable Air) and the planet Mercury (representing communication and relationships). As the Wheel of Fortune is known for its “karmic cycles and beginnings and endings”, The Lovers influences the Wheel of Fortune and Temperance by making well thought out choices that could have a resounding long-lasting influence; the moral vs. the immoral. In partnerships, The Lovers mirror the masculine and feminine aspects of one’s Self and in others. The recognition of one’s ‘Self in others and the fulfilling desire of love that it can bring is centered by one’s personal truth.
Following the action of change and optimism that is influenced through the “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Lovers” reminder of taking responsibility in one’s choice and action are key aspects in allowing “Temperance” to use one’s free (intuitive) will in mixing all the right elements to create a more balanced and structured life path.
