Continuing the Tarot Astrology series for this astrological year, I will be showcasing a tarot astrology profile of each astrological sign and it’s corresponding major arcana tarot card. For December 21st/22nd-Jan. 18th/19th, I will be discussing the sign of Capricorn, its tarot earth element of Pentacles, and its tarot card of influence, “The Devil”.

CAPRICORN CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the qualities of Saturn (which governs time, discipline and restriction). Capricornus qualities are those of ambition, hard work, determination, and opportunistic toward their goals. Their duality nature is masculine and its natural element is earth. The “Goat or Sea-Goat” is the ruling animal that signifies steadfast actions, positive motivation, and a dedication to rising above all challenges. It is the third and last Cardinal earth sign of the astrological cycle. The Capricorn “♑️” glyph symbol is created by two lines connected to a circle and a crescent shape. This represents the joining of discipline and authority in an energetic manner.
TAROT CARD: The Devil (15). This card represents the darker subconscious Self; obsessive behavior, temptation, and manipulating others. Seeing things that appear to be what is in the Self’s best interest, but later realizing that it is opposite and that dark desires are drawing the Self into a delusion state. We are responsible for all decisions that are made and, at times, going against our own instincts which could lead to fear, confusion, and chaos. To release the feelings of self-entrapment you will have to be honest with your Self about past decisions and actions that had been served against you. The message of the Devil card is a warning to be aware of your choices. By creating focus and structure within your Self you will be able to gain the discipline needed to make better choices while pursuing your desired goals.
SEASON OF INFLUENCE: The month of Capricorn runs December 21st/22nd-January 19th. The season it influences is mid-Winter. A time to wind down and reflect on what has been accomplished and to set a new foundation on the next series of goals.
LIFE PATH NUMBER: “8”, represents the power skills in business and finance. “8” is one of being realistic and intelligent. A true leader who is efficient and focused on their goals. “8” people are diplomatic, have a strong sense of authority and create platforms for the betterment of humanity. They are very good with social skills which can enhance future achievements. The “8’s” have strong leadership qualities that tend to be more empowering than the value of money.
DAY OF THE WEEK: Saturday (ruled by Saturn). A productive day for Capricorn to finish up projects, tying loose ends, exercise, and remaining dedicated to completing a task(s) on this day. Saturn’ s energy gives the discipline and motivation need to achieve this.
COLOR INFLUENCE: Dark Greens and Browns. These colors are the grounding influences of nature and earth.
PERSONALITY: “I USE” – Capricorns are resourceful and use what is in their immediate surroundings (networking) to achieve their success and reputation. They are very career-oriented in maintaining patience and being cautious in business matters. They will research all possibilities before making sound choices to ensure personal and business security.
OPPOSING TRAITS: Reserved and emotionally distant. Capricorns can also be overcritical toward others without realizing it. They can be seen as being self -involved in everything they do and can come across detached from others.
RULING BODY: The bones, knees, and joints. There is a possible risk for arthritis and other orthopedic ailments. These areas are best to keep in good health by exercising and taking appropriate supplements. Eat foods that are rich in Calcium.
ASTROLOGY’S TENTH HOUSE: In Astrology, Capricorn rules the Tenth House of “Career and Reputation”. Within the Tenth house, your career and reputation are based on how you work and how others see you. This comes about through recognition and responsibility in getting things completed. In addition, these efforts will bring success to the material aspects of your life.
PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card to Capricorn’s The Devil (15) is The Moon (18). The Moon which is ruled by Pisces (Mutable Water) and the planet Neptune (representing dreams, illusions, and mystery) is the ideal companion for the Devil card as The Moon relates to the deep emotions and exploring the subconscious.
The Devil card is one of obsession, chaos and addictive behaviors. The fears that arise from this can be explored through the guidance of The Moon by influencing The Devil to delve into its own subconscious realm to gain insight of past karmic choices that have created personal blocks of which are restricting the Self to move ahead. A question to ask yourself is “are you in a repetitive cycle and/or lost in disillusionment”?
The opposing (polar) card to the Devil is The Chariot (7). The Chariot is ruled by Cancer (Cardinal Water) and the Moon ruled by Pisces (representing intuitive and deep emotions). The Chariot represents control and discipline. There is great confidence in driving towards victory in accomplishing one’s desire. The Charioteer (Self) is guided by their instincts in a focussed manner and has the inner trust needed in being successful in one’s endeavors.
The Moon and The Chariot cards are different in their perspectives towards influencing the Devil. The Moon addresses the fears of the unknown and past karmic actions by exploring the subconscious of the darker Self and working through emotional issues by intuition. The Chariot is the victorious path one can take once fears and uncertainty have been harnessed in a positive manner. The Charioteer has gained insight from the dark subconscious mind and is taking control and using self-discipline to experience a personal journey of self-development. You are now in charge of who you are and what needs to be successfully accomplished.
