“Pisces and The Moon” – A Tarot Astrology Overview.

Wrapping up the Tarot Astrology series for this astrological year. Over the past twelve months, I have been showcasing an astrological sign profile and it’s corresponding major arcana tarot card.
For February 18th/19th-March 19th/20th, I will be discussing the sign of Pisces, its tarot water element of Cups, and its tarot card of influence, “The Moon”.

PISCES CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the planet and god-like qualities of Neptune (which rules mystery, illusions, psychic energy, and deception) and Jupiter (which governs abundance, well-being, and luck). Piscean qualities are those of receptivity. They can be highly intuitive and emotional, and very adaptable. The Piscean imagination can be seen as mysterious to others. Their duality nature is feminine and its natural element is water. The “Two linked Fishes are the ruling symbol that shows the opposing direction of which these fishes are swimming in. It represents shifting emotions and inner conflicts. It is the fourth and last mutable water sign of the astrological cycle. The Pisces “♓️” glyph symbol has two crescent moons joined by a straight line. This representation is the connection between the emotions and the higher consciousness that is limited within the material realm.

TAROT CARD: The Moon (18). This card represents the darker realms of our inner ‘Self.
It is a revelation one’s subconscious fears and secrets; feeling overwhelmed with emotions. A sense of self-deception. The illusionary moon is waxing and waning through our emotions and dreams to connect us to our intuition. Following one’s own instinct towards a specific purpose and in doing so, could shed light on an unanswered situation.
Ask yourself, “what is real and what is of illusion?”

SEASON OF INFLUENCE: The month of Pisces runs February 19th-March 20th. The season it influences is the transition of late Winter/early Spring. A time of introspection, dreamwork, and banishing is now culminating. As the early days of Spring approach the end of Pisces, it is time to welcome rejuvenating energy to manifest light and self-purification.

LIFE PATH NUMBER: “7”, represents the “key to the underlying meaning and cycle of life, death, and rebirth. “7” individuals are connected to the moon energy cycles. The waxing and waning of the moon cycles guide us through the emotional ebb and flow of the cycle of life. This connection deepens the understanding of spirituality and the mysteries of the otherworld for Pisceans. The search for knowledge and inner truth enhances the intuitive spirit of this water sign. “7” represents the seventh day of the sabbath; a time of introspection on what has been completed.

DAY OF THE WEEK: Monday (ruled by the Moon) and Thursday (ruled by Jupiter). Monday is a day to heal emotions and work on one’s spiritual practice. A perfect time to work with the moon’s energy. Thursday is a day to focus on business, finances, maintaining relationships, and abundance.

COLOR INFLUENCE: Aquamarine, blue, pale green, and turquoise; the shifting colors of the ocean. Silver and white; the illuminating colors of the Moon.

PERSONALITY: “I BELIEVE” – Pisceans are known to have a powerful connection to the spirit world and is believed to have lived other lives. They are the bridge into the physical and spiritual realms.

OPPOSING TRAITS: Drawn to the unpredictable; easily impressionable and vulnerable to others’ needs. At times, overindulgent and impractical, Pisceans tend to be riddled with conflicts of emotions and desires. They can unknowingly place personal boundaries around them that will prove difficult to tear down.  Maintaining stability and strength is a struggle for this sign who may run away from reality, instead of, facing it.

RULING BODY: The feet and the mucous membranes. Pisces are susceptible to emotional-based illness and their sensitive immune system finds it difficult to fight away disease and illnesses. They have a very acute sense of taste and smell and are easily stimulated by their surrounding environment. The feet are very sensitive for Pisceans; they need to be well protected and cared for.

ASTROLOGY’S TWELFTH HOUSE:  In Astrology, Pisces rules the Twelfth House of  “Secrets and Karma”. It is the most mysterious of all the astrological houses. The Twelfth house represents the limitations that came into our lives; such as disappointments, self-denial, and betrayal from others. Spiritual karma is associated with this house; for what good or bad actions that one puts out into the universe returns to that individual in the same manner. “What goes around, comes around”.

PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card to Pisces’ The Moon (18) is the Hanged Man (12).  The Hanged Man is ruled by Neptune as it does in Pisces. This partner card works in the realm of self-betterment and flips the perspective on things to get a different understanding of a situation. The use of intuition and meditation to connect to a higher being of the true Self. The Hanged Man will self-sacrifice all to reach that level of spirituality.
The Moon influences the Hanged Man by facing self-disillusionment through an exploration of the unconscious realm and tapping into one’s fears and weaknesses. By releasing these blocks, one will gain a spiritual awakening and clarity on matters that were left uncertain.

The opposing (polar) card to The Moon is The Hermit (9).  The Hermit is ruled by Virgo (Mutable Earth) and the planet Mercury (representing the intellect and communication). The Hermit finds enlightenment through solitude. A time of introspection and self-examination. A personal mentor to reveal the unknown. The Hermit is the guiding light to illuminate the subconscious realm of The Moon. It is through The Hermit’s lamp of knowledge that The Moon can see the difference between the conscious and subconscious states of (spiritual) awareness.

“The Hanged Man” and “The Hermit” cards are different in their perspectives towards each other and their influence on the Moon card. The Hanged Man takes action by reversing the way things are seen that others may not have initially perceived. This helps in releasing stagnant energy that has restricted personal growth. The Hermit is the source of inner revelation for the Moon card. This helps shed light upon issues that have been deeply buried and are now the cause of unsettled feelings and emotions to arise. Once confronted, there is a sense of compassion and understanding that is to be manifested; with spiritual and emotional harmony possibly being the end result.
