For March 20th/21st-April 18th/19th, I will be discussing the sign of Aries, it’s fire element of Wands, and tarot card of influence, “The Emperor”.

ARIES CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the planet’s qualities of Mars, who is the god of war and aggression. Aries qualities are those of action, enthusiastic optimism, and exploring new experiences. Their duality nature is masculine and its natural element is fire. The “Ram is the ruling symbol that represents the “initiator and doer” in moving forward with goals. Aries is the first (cardinal) sign in the astrological cycle signifying new beginnings. The Aries “♈︎” glyph symbol shows two opposing half-moons joined by a straight line, which indicates idealistic thinking set within an authoritative structure.

TAROT CARD: The Emperor (4). Male (animus) influence. An ambitious, confident leader, and visionary who courageously initiates stability and order amongst the chaos, and looks at the potential that surrounds him to manifest powerful changes.

SEASON INFLUENCE: The month of Aries runs March 20/21-April 19/20. Its season of influence is the beginning of the Spring Equinox. This is a time of balance between the feminine and masculine energies, and of light and dark. It is also the celebration of Ostara; who is the goddess of Spring, fertility, and rebirth. She is the creatrix of the earth.

LIFE PATH NUMBER: “4”, represents the stability, reason, boundaries, and hard work that are the core ethics for Aries. “4” individuals will know how to be steadfast when faced with challenges. This is key as “4’s” have the desire for “law and order”, and yet creating change and growth from inner stagnancy.

DAY OF THE WEEK: Tuesday (ruled by Mars) a day to be active and to approach challenges. Tuesday is named after the Norse god “Tiw” who bravely faced victories and war.

COLOR INFLUENCE: Red and it’s deeper shades. This influences the life-giving energies such as blood and plasma.

PERSONALITY: “I AM” –  Aries are known for these characteristics of masculine energy, authoritative, active, confident, ambitious, and looking for the greater good in all things.

OPPOSING TRAITS: Ariens are known to be domineering and can show their impatient side when there is no progress being made towards a goal. You are one not to take orders as it is your (inherent) astrological nature to be an authoritative leader. At times impulsive before assessing the situation.

RULING BODY: The head and facial features. Particularly, the bridge of the nose and the eyebrows. Hence the iconic sign of Aries ♈️. Because of their high energetic nature, Aries can deplete their natural reserve of potassium phosphate which nourishes brain cells and liver. This may lead to headaches and depression.

ASTROLOGY’S FIRST HOUSE:  In Astrology, Aries rules the First House of the “Self”. This is how we appear to others based on the individual’s outward appearance and personality. This goes back to our childhood years and (at that time) the influence of our external surroundings, how it has and will shape us throughout our lives. The first house encompasses all of the individual’s inner and outer attributes, and what you have experienced in your life.

THE EMPEROR AS A “FEMALE’: The Emperor, though primarily a masculine figure, can be interpreted in a reading as a female portraying her inner male/Emperor-type qualities. This, of course, is based on the specifics of the querent’s inquiry.

PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card to the Emperor is, “The Empress”. Representing the female archetype of the “Mother and Creator” she is ruled by Venus and is the grounding compliment for the Aries (Mars-ruled) personality of the Emperor. The Empress is the anima to The Emperor’s animus through her creative and nurturing energies.

The opposing (polar) card for the Emperor is “Justice (11)”, which is ruled by Libra. The Justice card serves as a karmic reminder of “cause and effect”, while the Emperor card is of action, order, and stability. Both the Emperor and Justice cards can be complementary to each other, as Justice sets the karmic scales towards the actions of what the Emperor has ambitiously built. Justice can clarify the Emperor’s focus and responsibilities of his or her actions.
