Every month of this year, I will be showcasing a profile of each astrological sign and it’s corresponding major arcana tarot card.
For May 20th/21st-June 19th/20th, I will be discussing the sign of Gemini, it’s air element of the Swords, and its tarot card of influence, “The Lovers”.

GEMINI CHARACTER BACKGROUND: Ruled by the planet Mercury (the god of travel, intellect, and communication) and its natural element of Air, Gemini represents the movement of the mind and the art of persuasion. When making decisions, the use of logical thought comes before any connection to the heart is made. As the first mutable sign in the astrological cycle, Gemini’s are adaptable to different environments and situations. Their quick wit, versatility, and light-hearted nature make them attractive in social and work settings as they are the ultimate pros in multi-tasking. The more tasks the better for a Gemini as this keeps their minds constantly active of which they enjoy!
The Gemini “♊️” glyph features two parallel lines being supported by one line on top and one on the bottom. This represents the duality of knowledge and wisdom and how the mind utilizes the information that it processes.
TAROT CARD: The Lovers (6). This card represents a harmonious union of the mind and the heart; the joining of opposing energies. In a partnership, how do you feel about yourself that is being reflected by your partner? Is the duality of the feminine and masculine sides of the Self being acknowledged? If so, by acknowledging these aspects of the ‘Self you will be able to understand the choices that were made and take responsibility for the end result. The use of one’s free will is part of this experience.
SEASON INFLUENCE: The month of Gemini runs May 20th-June 19th. Its season of influence is the transition of late Spring/early Summer. A time to harness the increasing energy of the Sun’s vitality before it wanes after the Summer Solstice. It is a time to create the fire, passion, and willpower in connecting to one’s higher “Self.
LIFE PATH NUMBER: “6”, represents harmony, a strong domestic connection to family, home life, and friends. They are faithful and true to those closest to them, of which they like to maintain a harmonious relationship within this type of environment.
“6” individuals find their greatest success in being efficient in their actions. They are very self-expressive and can be best placed within the creative arts where they can showcase their artistic skills.
DAY OF THE WEEK: Wednesday (ruled by Mercury) an excellent day for business communication, divination work, and manifesting career goals.
COLOR INFLUENCE: Bright yellow, blue, violet, and silver. Airy light colors. These colors influence higher knowledge and wisdom. Yellow boosts the intellect, while blue, violet, and silver enhance higher spiritual thought.
PERSONALITY: “I THINK” – Geminis’ are known for their witty humor, versatility, intellect, and duality perspective. They will always put their mind first before their own feelings and those of others.
OPPOSING TRAITS: The opposing duality aspect of Gemini can emphasize mental imbalances with nervous disorders, erratic moods, and depression. A Gemini can be deceptive towards others through superficiality by not fully acknowledging those you are interacting with.
RULING BODY: The arms and hands, shoulders, and the respiratory system. These parts represent the body duality of two; ie two arms/hands, two lungs, and two shoulders split down the center of the upper body. These parts rule the nervous system and good care is needed to prevent nervous illness or physical weaknesses in these areas.
ASTROLOGY’S THIRD HOUSE: In Astrology, Gemini rules the Third House of “Communication and Short Trips”. This house dominates how you expressive yourself; the manner in how you think, speak and write. It also dictates your home environment, early childhood, family connections, and everyday travel.
PARTNER AND POLAR TAROT CARDS: The partner card for Gemini’s The Lovers, is The Magician (1). Ruled by Mercury, The Magician uses the conscious realm to empower the spiritual tools (wands, pentacles, swords, and cups) to guide an individual towards their fullest potential; hence exploring one’s true ‘Self. By skillfully mastering these tools one will be able to traverse life’s experiences and to share these experiences with others. Gemini is Mercury-ruled and can benefit from the skills of the Magician in all aspects of life.
The opposing (polar) card to Gemini’s The Lovers is Temperance (14), which is ruled by Sagittarius and the planet Jupiter. While The Lovers is a representation of partnerships and communication, “Temperance” is the balance of opposites by creating harmony. This comes by finding the differences within one’s life and then creating a healing combination that will be one of self-empowerment. Jupiter’s astrological influence within “Temperance” emphasizes higher learning and mind expansion of the intellectual and spiritual realms, thus providing harmonious energy towards individual prosperity.
“The Magician” and “Temperance” cards are different in their perspective toward each other and their influence on the “Lovers” card. The Magician has cunningly mastered his life skills through the use of his spiritual tools. This has provided a means to harness the forces of nature to better understand one’s Self. Temperance works at a subconscious level by empowering self-confidence and optimism while exploring varying perspectives in balancing out the areas of one’s life that need to be worked on. For the Lovers, the influence of “The Magician” and “Temperance” cards are the conscious and subconscious guides needed to create a harmonious understanding of the heart (subconscious) and the mind (conscious).
