Featured Cards: “Unified Esoteric Tarot” (top), “Lumina Tarot” (left), “Tarot of the Holy Light” (right)

First Decan 0º-10º Jan.21st-Jan.29th  ♒︎ ♅

• Uranus in Capricorn

• Tenth House of Ideas and Friendship

• Guided by the “Five of Swords“

Fixed Aquarius (Jan.19th – Feb.17th) Ruled by the planet of sudden changes, (technological) inventions, revolution, and personal freedom, Uranus holds its free flowing energy in the element of air. Innovation and radical changes for the betterment of humanity is the mindset for many Aquarians. Thinking outside of the box, let alone creating their own “box” (or niche) is how the Aquarian ideals are manifested. Once put into action these concepts are quickly fueled by an impassioned individual who will stay committed to get their message across. This is a sign that holds rulership in the Eleventh house of ideals, friends, and innovation. These influences are of importance to many Aquarians and based on the sign/planet placement (within the eleventh house) can indicate how involved one’s role is when working with others and what humanitarian causes and social interests that inspire you.

During this first decan with Uranus in Aquarius, the “Unified Esoteric Tarot” indicates this is a time of “Detachment”. In this decan, Uranus’ influence in Aquarius is all about perception and mental agility. There is a desire to problem solve issues and resolving matters in a more efficient manner. The intellect is emphasized and a sense of (emotional) DETACHMENT is apparent towards life’s situations. Analyzing situations and people to better understand what is happening is how Uranus in Aquarius intellectualize’s life’s challenges.

The “Five of Swords“ indicates a disagreement, tension, or defeat from a conflict. The challenge has ended and there is a sense of loss and mistrust. If this is a battle against a friend for something that both of you sought after. Whoever wins, there still remains a personal loss, possibly at the expense of trust and or friendship. This card is about unresolved conflict and how to best make amends with this. Will you either forgive the situation or walk away from the loss to move on?

The “Lumina Tarot“ has the “Five of Swords” as a personal struggle either within your Self or from a situation You are feeling a loss and mistrust that has put your faith on the line. Mentally and emotionally overwhelmed, your ambitious goal is showing signs of defeat. Take a moment to reevaluate what thoughts and actions occurred for this loss to happen. Learn from this experience to apply to any challenge that does arrive. Create peace with this and then move on.

The “Tarot of the Holy Light” shows the battle of opposites through the strength of strategy. The key is HOW thoughts and actions take place to create a challenging environment  to learn from your opponent. The “best move or idea” causes the win of this challenge. Similar to the game of chess, plenty of thought goes into each move to advance in the win. This card is about skillful thought and action put into a battle of the wits. By analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of your challenge you can better assess how to overcome this and take victory. Be aware if there is too much weakness or strengths between the opposites within this battle, someone will have to eventually give in or the conflict will not be resolved.

Use the “Five of Swords” as guidance when confronting personal or situational conflicts. It is a time to cut your losses so that you can accept what was lost and move on to a better experience. Look at what intentions (intellect or emotions) were placed that caused the outcome of defeat. What can you do next time to avoid such a challenge to begin with?

Please note! The assigned astrological decan on the featured tarot cards does not correspond with the current astrological sign and planet placement. The “Unified Esoteric Tarot” has its own astrological correspondences that are used as guides within each card when doing a reading.
In addition, the Golden Dawn has its own system of astrological correspondences that I will make specific reference too when doing tarot astrology readings. These correspondences are found primarily in the Thoth Tarot and other similar inspired traditional decks.
