Featured Cards: “Pagan Otherworlds” (left), “Lumina Tarot” (bottom), “Unified Esoteric Tarot” (top),“Tarot of the Holy Light” (right)

First Decan 0º-10º March 21st- 30th

• Mars in Aries

• First House of Self

• Guided by the “Two of Wands”

Cardinal Aries (March 20th-April 19th) Ruled by the fiery planet Mars is recognized for its aggressive and confident energies. Aries is known for taking the initiative in their endeavors and being fiercely independent individuals. The fiery swiftness in their actions can come across as impulsive, but there is a direct focussed intent in achieving their goals. Aries can be competitive and confident by nature which is an inherent astrological trait that enforces their ambitious drive of taking on any challenge. These characteristics poise Aries in roles of leadership and trust. They can be seen as influential in their actions of determination when getting things done. Aries is a sign that holds rulership in the First house of “Self. These influences define who we are as individuals (the ego, Self), how we physically look, how we perceive the world around us, and how one works through personal struggles.

During this first decan with Mars in Aries, the “Unified Esoteric Tarot” indicates this as a time of taking “Initiative”.  In this decan, the Mars influence in Aries is very much at home here within its ruling sign in Aries. The motivational energy is strong and encouraging at this time. The desire to put things into action is making itself known. Take the opportunity to follow your heart’s desire and do so with great optimism. Clear any obstacles and manifest that focussed pathway toward the desired goal that is awaiting for you.

The “Two of Wands“ indicates laying a foundation and creating a strategy when moving toward a set intention. Look at how you will utilize your sources and at what pace they will be executed at. The Wands are the tools of movement. You are ready to begin working in a new direction that may change the course of your life. Consider what has taken place (thus far) in your life and what are the changes that you want to manifest for a fuller life. Now is the time to take these steps towards personal success.

The “Lumina Tarot“ and “Pagan OtherWorlds” has the “Two of Wands” firmly grounded and showing the signs of potential growth and commitment as you begin to take your dreams and ideas and put them into action. The path is clear and it is time to heed the calling of your heart’s desires. Look at your personal beliefs and values and ask yourself if these are truly representative of who you are now. If these views are no longer part of your Self, then use your newly found perspective to harness this influence into your desired goals. Be honest and draw in what is of empowerment to you and release what is challenging you from moving ahead in your goals.

The “Tarot of the Holy Light” has the “Two of Wands” showing the challenging aspects of opposing energies, “Love and Wrath”.  The solar influence in this card is the guiding force within both of these energies. It is how “Love and Wrath” are one in the same when it comes to creating a transformational shift. Both can weaken and empower the other. The Sun is the vitality and guidance in determining how these energies will be placed into personal growth. If you are facing self doubt about your endeavors take this time to look at the Sun’s life force as inner encouragement and self belief that you can move ahead in confidence.

Use the guidance of the “Two of Wands“ as a guide to begin creating the needed changes toward your endeavors. Do so with optimism and confidence. If challenges arise, remain determined to see through your plans to the end. Wavering off course will only hinder the process and could (temporarily) derail your focus of achieving that personal success. The “Two of Wands” has us looking at our committed and ambitious Self when moving toward a set intention. How much work are you willing to do to see the outcome?

Please note! The assigned astrological decan on the featured tarot cards does not correspond with the current astrological sign and planet placement. The “Unified Esoteric Tarot” has its own astrological correspondences that are used as guides within each card when doing a reading.
In addition, the Golden Dawn has its own system of astrological correspondences that I will make specific reference too when doing tarot astrology readings. These correspondences are found primarily in the Thoth Tarot and other similar inspired traditional decks.
