“Devotion and Self Love”
• First Decan 0°-10° June 22nd – July 1st
• Venus in Cancer
• Fourth House of Home + Relationships
• Guided by the “Two of Cups“
Cardinal Cancer (June 20th/21st -July 19th/20th), ruled by the Moon, is the water influenced feminine sign of nurturing, protection, and instinct. Cancer is the emotional shapeshifter. Sympathetic and kind one moment and then temperamental and insensitive the next. These shifting moods show the powerful forces that are stirring inside. And that impenetrable exterior Cancer shell is there to defend anyone from reaching their deepest emotions. Patience and understanding is needed when winning the trust and loyalty of a sensitive Cancer.
In this first decan with the “Moon in Cancer”, the “Unified Esoteric Tarot” indicates a time of “Devotion”. As we enter this particular summer season many of us are feeling the liberating joy of being outdoors and interacting with friends and family once again. The “devotion” we have had with those close in our lives has grown fonder and more loving than before. Emotions are being fully expressed at this time.
The “Two of Cups“ is about a mutual connection and understanding of the emotions between two opposing energies. This can come in the loving form of a new romance, a friendship, or a spiritual union between feminine and masculine energies. Through the means of liberating part of your Self to openly experience a new feeling from the heart further strengthens ones own ‘Self love and respect.
The “Dreamkeepers Tarot” and “Forest of Enchantment” both show their depictions of the Two of Cups. In the Dreamkeepers Tarot, we experience more of the intimate side of a developing union of opposites. There is a mutual desire to merge their various traits of nature. One is of a deep rooted connection to nature and the other showing the liberated spirit of the ‘Self.
The Forest of Enchantment shows the endearing connection between two souls who unexpectedly meet. It is this recognition of each other that destiny had planned for their loving friendship to fill a void missing within their hearts.
The “Witches Wisdom” and “Nature Spirit Tarot” both show the Two of Cups/Water in relationship to nature. The Witches Wisdom shows the symbiotic interaction between two otters. One on a rock (grounding consciousness) and the other in the water (nurturing emotions). Their playful and joy filled attitude is a reminder of living a life in Self love and expressing this out to others.
The “Nature Spirit Tarot” explores the Two of Cups through the White Cally Lily. Its tube-like shape collects the elemental life force of water being a symbol of purity and emotional strength. The entwining red and white roses shows the unity between masculine and feminine energies. The beauty of these blooming roses indicate the love and nurturing of ones Self. The Tree Frog is symbolic of honesty within a relationship while the May Fly shows the manifesting of a new relationship.
The “Tarot of the Holy Light” has the Two of Cups as the “mutual understanding” found in all relationships. The focus is interconnecting the masculine and feminine energies that is within us. The Mars in Cancer influence of this card shows how it can have the energy to remain positive and emotional supportive regardless of their current environment. The challenge arises with the Moon in Capricorn (detriment/reverse)which puts a hold on the emotions and creates a block for Cancer to freely express their feelings. It is consider to become more disciplined in how one releases their emotions which could limit any vulnerability from forming in a new relationship. By working through these challenges, this will empower the Self for a solid union based on emotional strength and courage.
Use the “Two of Cups“ as guidance for developing self love within yourself. This very nature that will find itself attracting this energy in someone else. It is being open hearted and trust in manifesting the ultimate divine love that we each have within ourselves. Ask your Self, how much are you willing to let go of to be receptive and embracing to this experience?
✶Please note! The assigned astrological decan on the featured tarot cards does not correspond with the current astrological sign and planet placement. The “Unified Esoteric Tarot” has its own astrological correspondences that are used as guides within each card when doing a reading. In addition, the Golden Dawn has its own system of astrological correspondences that I will make specific reference too when doing tarot astrology readings. These correspondences are found primarily in the Thoth Tarot and other similar inspired traditional decks.
