“Loyalty and Vitality”
• First Decan 0°-0° July 23rd-August 2nd
• Sun in Leo
• Fifth House of Creativity & Pleasure
• Guided by the “Five of Wands“
Fixed Leo (July 19th/20th-Aug.20th/21st), ruled by the Sun, is the fiery masculine sign of loyalty, generosity, and pleasure.
A Leo’s driving force comes from within their courageous heart. When challenges occur, Leo will be there to move through the trials and tribulations with confidence. Where does this inner Strength come from? It comes from the self confidence in what they are investing their personal time in. It has to motivate a Leo to see the potential of growth in a situation. They are very proud individuals and their natural sense of leadership and charisma is what draws many to them. Never the one to shun a moment of attention, a Leo will face any opportunity that motivates their inner desires. Having moments of recognition is truly appreciated from this astrological sign of courage and trust. Though their ‘ego’ needs to be under a watchful eye so that it doesn’t steer them away from their goal.
In this first decan with the “Sun in Leo”, the Unified Esoteric Tarot indicates the action of “Lust”. I will change this word to “Vitality” as I feel it is best suited for this particular decan. The Sun’s energy is the life-force for this sign. It is powerful, always active, and supportive. This solar influence fuels the desires in Leo to go after what truly motivates them. They will work hard and do what it takes to achieve their own success. The challenge for Leo comes if this desire overdrives Leo’s self confidence more toward their own pride rather than the goal itself.
The “Five of Wands“ is about directly taking action with conflict. This can be within ones Self or outside influences.
This card is the test of confidence and willpower in a situation. A time to be prepared to reinforce what you believe in and your values when facing any struggles. Keep an open mind and heart when working to resolve challenging energies that are at the core of the issue.
The “Lumina Tarot” expresses the Five of Wands as the approach needed when challenging an adversary. There is some strategy needed when working through any form of conflict. The ‘Self may be torn as to the best course of action to take in a situation where the involved parties are working toward a common goal, but having a difference in opinion. Create a resolve that will ultimately benefit both sides, and consider ta compromise by stepping back to manifest peace so both sides can move ahead.
The “Dreams of Gaia” shows the Five of Fire as equal competitive forces aiming toward control over a common goal. Will you welcome a shift in energy to change the outcome for the better or continue fighting for the sake of feeding ones aggression. Consider your opinions and express them in such a way that it doesn’t cause aggressive behavior. Be mindful of the environment that you are sharing your thoughts in and keep a “visionary perspective” that is your own.
The “Tarot of the Holy Light” takes an esoteric perspective of the Five of Wands as fire energy that is put into the “evolving of the soul”. The awareness of spiritual guides and shifting cosmic forces creates a self refinement of how an individual experiences the world around them. This light of consciousness is alchemically interpreted as Gold. This is acquired only after being released from any circumstances of challenges and suffering. The Mars in Leo and Sun in Aries influence within this card drives the Five of Wands toward “self willed empowerment” and ultimately a spiritual opulent experience which awakens the soul to a re-aligned view. Be the best that you can be and don’t fall into challenges that can distort your focus.
Use the “Five of Wands“ as guidance when taking action in a situation of conflict. View different ways to approach this conflict BEFORE taking action. Consider the pros and cons in the matter and if there is a means to mutually meet between the differences. In doing so, you are allowing the “conflict” to change form and to potentially find resolution in the situation. It is not a time to avoid the situation. The key is staying true to your own beliefs and values to the matter at hand.
Please note! The assigned astrological decan on the featured tarot cards does not correspond with the current astrological sign and planet placement. The “Unified Esoteric Tarot” has its own astrological correspondences that are used as guides within each card when doing a reading. In addition, the Golden Dawn has its own system of astrological correspondences that I will make specific reference too when doing tarot astrology readings. These correspondences are found primarily in the Thoth Tarot and other similar inspired traditional decks.
