“LAMMAS”- A WITCHES SABBAT MEDITATIVE READING AUGUST 1ST 2022

“Witches Oracle” Sally Morningstar (top center) + “Vision Quest Tarot” (Gayan Sylvie Winter + Jo Dosé)

Working with the Wheel of the Year sabbats, this Lammas reading will shed light on the bridge between Litha (Summer Solstice) and Mabon (Autumn Equinox). This reading is named the “Bridge of Lammas” to usher in the waning energies of the late Summer season and to welcome in the early harvest season of Mabon.

Lammas (Lughnasadh) is a “greater sabbat” which transitions between the cross quarter (“lesser sabbats”) of Litha and Mabon.
The days are growing shorter in the Northern Hemisphere (longer days in the Southern Hemisphere as Samhain is being welcomed) we can use the vitality of the sun’s fiery energy as a means of healing.

In the Southern Hemisphere, the sabbat of Imbolc represents the first light of winter. A time to acknowledge the dawning of the Oak King and the increasing vitality of the Sun. Creative energy rises and begins to take shape. This waxing season of light and growth welcomes in the potential of new beginnings for the upcoming Ostara Spring Equinox in September.

Lammas is the first of the three witches harvest sabbats with Mabon (Autumn Equinox) and Samhain (Oct.31st) round out the sabbats.
This first harvest of the season represents the sharing of what we have gained in abundance with others. While Litha (Summer Solstice) is the apex of celebrated goals and desire, Lammas is the reaping of what was sowed during the Ostara Equinox in March until Lammas. A time to share what was manifested, but not to give all of your efforts away. Remember to retain a portion of whatever was manifested. These resources are to be utilized during the Autumn and Winter seasons.

Lammas Reading:
“The Bat” represents the guiding force to our deeper (sub)conscious Self Our intuition is receiving a signal to heed the calling of change that will transform our sense of perception. The intuitive Self is to be receptive to what awaits ahead. During this Lammas sabbat, reflect on what has transpired from the previous seasons and how our outlook has shifted to the present.

“Hermit” + “Daughter of Water” + “Clown”:
“The Hermit” is the centerpiece of this reading which is being supported through the guidance of the “Daughter of Water” and “The Clown (Fool)”. The Hermit is the inner Self searching for deeper meaning and understanding. A time to be still and listen to what is calling you to retreat within. This may be answered through the “Daughter of Water” who is filled with love and compassion. The Self has embraced inner love and has willingly released any emotional fears that may have blocked past feelings. This leads us to “The Clown” which is the light hearted outcome of the Hermit’s journey. There is a playful nature to The Clown that reminds us to be grateful for moments of fun and freedom. This free spirited nature is a reminder on how a change in perspective can create a lighter point of view of what surrounds you.

These three cards are about soul reflection, emotional connection, and liberation. These are the stages of personal growth that we can assimilate during the month of Leo and of the Lammas sabbat. A revelation of what has been experienced and sharing this with others as they may learn from your personal journey.
