Exercise #1 Your personal tarot birth cards + decans Sun.May 5th 2025 TMT study group meeting

For those who couldn’t attend Sunday’s TMT study meet up, I shared a tarot exercise that some tarot practitioners incorporate into their own practice. This is exploring your “Personal Birth Card(s) along with the decans of the birth month and the planet(s) association with your birth card. I feel this exercise is a good way to personally connect with the esoteric landscape of the Tabula Mundi Tarot. If you pull your personal birth cards with any other tarot deck, the energy is clearly going to read differently. But with the Tabula Mundi Tarot the birth cards can reveal underlying aspects of the personal ‘Self.

This exercise is easy to calculate as follows: add your birth month, birth date, and your birth year: ie 01+10+2+0+2+5 = 11 This is also your birth year number. So the 11 /8 being either Adjustment or Lust and Emperor (if you want to reduce the 11 down to 2). The difference between the Adjustment and Lust cards comes if you want to follow the Golden dawn astrological order of the cards Lust/Strength (8) Leo or Justice/Adjustment (11) Libra, or the pre RWS order found in earlier versions of the Marseille decks which reverses the order. Since we are working with the TMT that incorporates astrology, I recommend using 8 Strength and 11 Adjustment.

Regarding the double digit numbers, I find the only time to a numeral reduction down is if the number surpasses 22. This is the number of the Fool and 0 isn’t counted as a single digit number in the tarot. But if you do have a double digit ie 23, 24, etc.. reduce it down to find your major arcana birth archetype. All numbers before 22 can be read with its associated archetype card(s). Moon (18) 1+ 8 = Hermit (9).

The decans are selected based on the month you are born. Explore the TMT and find those three decan cards that represent the birth month. Your sun sign + planet representing your sun sign is included in the exercise.. ie Taurus (Hierophant) ruled by Venus (Empress).
