“Mental Engagement and Bound by Fear”

• Second Decan 10º-20º June 1st-June 10th

• Venus in Gemini

• Third House of Communication

Mutable Gemini (May 20th/21st -June 19th/20th), ruled by the planet of Mercury, is the masculine and feminine air sign of duality and communication. Gemini is about having versatility in their perspective of life from the way one communicates (talking, writing, and natural body gestures), to making choices, and social interaction. As a mutable sign, Gemini has a natural means of learning things quickly, seeing different perspectives, and multi-tasking. This continual movement of the mind allows Gemini the space it needs to be adaptable in any situation.

During this second decan, the “Unified Esoteric Tarot” places “Venus in Gemini” as to how this air sign and earthy planetary combo “exchange information” with others. In this decan, Venus influences Gemini in the manner that one communicates. This is seen as an enjoyment of conversation about like minded experiences. Sharing similarities and keeping things at a conscious intellectual level allows the Venus in Gemini influence to remain engaged.

The “Nine of Swords“ is about the (sub)conscious mind and facing our inner struggles and fears of uncertainty. This can be placed either upon ourselves or from the negative energy that can be incited upon from others. This is a reminder about the power of the mind when it comes to the conflicts of thoughts and allowing your subconscious Self to get the worst out from you. The planet Mars, and its major arcana archetype of the “Tower, is associated with the Nine of Swords as the breaking down of conflicting past (karmic) actions and thoughts. Ask yourself, “how would one face these challenges directly so that the Self can move ahead with confidence”?

The “Pagan Otherworlds“ and “Oak Ash and Thorn” shows the “Nine of Swords” placed as thoughts that are binding us and ominously hovering above the conscious Self (Swan) while the soul wallows in despair. There is also a crippling depiction showing a raven’s nest (emotions) being pierced by the swords. Simply too much to bare and nowhere to flee to. “Forest of Enchantment”  has the frightened soul seeking refuge inside the womb of a tree. Clearly seeing the fears that is surrounding this soul during the night, there is a moon lighting and reflecting a path of awakening for the Self.

The “Dreams of Gaia” shows the directive light when taking control of ones thoughts and removing the fear and uncertainty. In a sense, this a “preventative” approach when working with the higher conscious Self to know that change is possible and always there. This card is about the relationship that we have with are own minds. Choosing to be either creative and connected or unattached and destructive. Being openminded and limitless will allow ones full potential to overcome any challenges that may cross the conscious Self. Use your enlightened vision as guidance for change.

The “Tarot of the Holy Light”  takes a perspective of freeing the ego of its own self-imposed despair.
The Eagle is the central focus which represents the wisdom being held within the constraints of “time and space”. This is the journey for liberation from the worldly conscious realm and its challenges that are imposed onto the mind, body, and soul on a regular basis. The willful fight for a release is imminent with the opening sky in the horizon. Though be aware of sharing negativity toward others and within your Self as this will delay the process of the ego’s release.

Use the guidance of the “Nine of Swords“ as a “wake up call” to begin tending fearful thoughts before they become more than the mind can tolerate. Know that the Swords are available for use to take control and directly cut through the cloudiness of the mind to view that which is the core of the issue.

Please note! The assigned astrological decan on the featured tarot cards does not correspond with the current astrological sign and planet placement. The “Unified Esoteric Tarot” has its own astrological correspondences that are used as guides within each card when doing a reading. In addition, the Golden Dawn has its own system of astrological correspondences that I will make specific reference too when doing tarot astrology readings. These correspondences are found primarily in the Thoth Tarot and other similar inspired traditional decks.
