“THE HIEROPHANT” (TAURUS) – I call the Hierophant “a conduit of spiritual energy”. I say this as the Hierophant has been transformed from the worldly realm into a enlightened sentient soul. One who is able to share wisdom and compassion from personal experience and/or guidance through a trusted mentor. The “pentacle” (5 pointed star) + the 4 Kerubic powers (Aquarius (Man/Air), Scorpio (Eagle/Water), Leo (Lion/Fire), Taurus (Bull/Earth) are all encompassing to form the one “Spirit”. For me, this is the true essence of the Hierophant. Seated within the 6 pointed star, the nail (Vau), crossed gold/silver keys, and the pentacle are all placed at the position of Kether, and another nail at the feet solidifies the connection between heaven and earth. This is stillness (silence) being received, yet an active force for the Hierophant. One last observation, the hand gesture normally seen with the Hierophant has been replaced with the activating Vajra (masculine placed in the right hand) and the acknowledging Bell of wisdom (feminine in the left hand). Hands down, I hold great respect for the Hierophant who is a soul of infinite wisdom and compassion.
“Five of Disks” (Mercury) – For me, this represents how the mind can allow matters to take control and cause a great deal of unnecessary worries. The master controller (Magus/Mercury) has vanished from this once active environment and has left a space filled with no security or direct guidance. But as in all the “5’s” in the minor arcana, there are tools/resources that can be used to turn this scenario into something greater.
As Jay pointed out the intuitive intellect of elephants, this is our key to unlock any repression and to release any concerns that may not be as large as they are. Again, I like how Meleen has removed the sword + cup (as seen in the Magus) and replaced it with the elephant and key showing a different interpretation of resolving the 5 of Disks predicament in a more intuitive manner. Though to achieve this, one needs to find inner stillness to “see” what they are surrounded by.
“Six of Disks” (Moon) – The conjoining forces for success, though not quite the completed achievement. As we continue down the Sephiroths of the Tree of Life, the “6” (Tiphareth)/Moon in Taurus for this card is filled with the feminine nurturing of our earth and its resources. The growth that we are experiencing is coming from the natural instincts of the Priestess and (I feel) the Empress (heart filled pomegranates) with the preservation of the land. These two combined powers as well as the lunar and solar energies and the gold/silver keys shows an understanding of how to best utilize these resources to continue building toward a set goal. Maintaining the balance is very important. If not, we may see the possible result in the “7 of Disks”.
“Seven of Disks” (Saturn) – Ah yes, another Saturnian lesson but in the Taurus III decan. Learn from our mistakes and laboriously work through them. I see this decan as a means of taking responsibility for our actions and paying the consequences that may come from it. The temptation from these serpents has caused us to deviate from the path of success, and what has been grown and nurtured (pomegranate life force) is now being consumed by these serpents and feeding their ego to grow into a larger entity. The lower Sephiroth (4-9) has shape shifted and is being destroyed. The supernal Sephiroth (1-3) represented by the 4 Kerubic powers are maintaining a protective shield from these ego forces. The way to combat these self destructive energies is to accept it and to work through it. We may come out a bit worn and battered, but stronger from the experience. “7 of Disks” is the badge of perseverance through such an experience.
