Tabula Mundi Tarot: Virgo Decan (8-10 Disks) + The Hermit, September 7th 2025

“THE HERMIT” (VIRGO) – The arrival of today’s lunar eclipse (Sidereal Leo/Aquarius + Tropical Virgo/Pisces) definitely emphasized the Hermit’s importance as the carrier of the beacon of light within our own soul. As we enter into the waning season of Autumn, many of us use this time to process what has (not) developed since the start of the year. Especially 2025, being a “9” year aligned to the Hermit/Virgo of abundance and healing.

The Hermit’s “descent into matter” shows the journey work of the ‘Self to attain completion of the True ‘Self. This realization is no longer idealized, dreamed, or inspired.. it has been initiated. The reflections of the sun’s life force and the gentleness of the waning moon is the calling of the Hermit (Hermitude.. thank you, Renae!). With the support of the snake wrapped Wand (willpower), topped with the Yod (hand) orphic egg, and the flame of the lantern. these are the sources that only the Hermit needs to complete its journey. The violet tinged sky (thinned veil) and cloak of the Hermit shows the direct focus toward a soul journey of knowledge and growth.

Meleen describes the Hermit as a evolutionary form from the Fool’s walking into the unknown abyss, incarnating into the Magus (Mercury ruled), and fully maturing into the elder Hermit. I see this as a septenary transition of the first seven cards in the major arcana (Fool-Chariot), into the second septenary journey into (Strength/Justice-Temperance). The Fool (Self) goes through the experiences and transformative forces of the “triumph” archetypes. The Hermit is one aspect of the Self releasing the old and forming into the new.

For me, through the guidance of the High Priestess →Hierophant →Star →the Hermit are archetypes of expressing direct spiritual knowledge and transformation.

“Eight of Disks” (Sun) – This the fine art of prudence and cultivation! Through the means of personal “diligence and intelligence” allows the moment to fully nurture what is being created. The Sun in Virgo inspires the inherent skills of Virgo through precise thinking and the wise use of resources to establish the fruits of their labor. And ultimately, igniting the “conscious attainment to the higher ‘Self”.

The “8 of Disks” has simple main components that creates the realm of “Prudence”. The emanating warmth of the Sun’s flame is the compassionate strength of the soul’s heart. The lantern is the protective body of this flame while the hexagram (within the lantern) is a cohesive driving force of opposite energies (the divine + the material, masculine + feminine). This pulsation of these encompassing forces becomes an integral part of the DNA within these carefully selected eight eggs. The nest can be seen as the harvested wheat broken down to create a temporary safe haven for these eggs.

“Nine of Disks” (Venus) – Venus in Virgo…We’re now seeing the beauty in the culmination of our efforts. The flame from the lantern has transformed into the open (door) heart (Tiperath) that is seen in the Empress. This may well be the essence of the “9 of Disks”. The pathway to the heart’s soul (self belief) through compassion can lead to spiritual joy and/or material gain.

I see the eight eggs from the “8 of Disks” transformed into the honeycombs in the “9 of Disks”. The “9th” heart centered honeycomb is being supported by these eight aligned honeycombs. As if the life force of the heart is connected to each aspect of the honeycomb’s creation. The two bees are in unison in communicating their efforts to success. They show how Virgo works and thinks in a detailed manner to make sure that everything is on the same page.

I support Mellen’s description of the “hive, honeycomb, and honey” to represent the transformation of the “spiritual body”. The hive as the physical (outer) body, the honeycomb as the inner structure of the body/soul (soon to be transformed), and the honey as the result of the pure (sweetness) of the highest ‘Self. I feel these are important factors within the “9 of Wands”.

“Ten of Disks” (Mercury) – Mercury in Virgo…A strong body formation in the sephira of Malkuth. The journey through the Tree of Life is now seen in a solid state of completion. The honeycombs have formed into Disks of wealth. Meleen states this as “the sum total of the Great Work”. The Hermit has manifested into this Great Work through mercurial knowledge and action. Each of the ten disks reveals the guiding influences that was experienced by the Hermit to reach completion of the higher physical and spiritual ‘Self.

The “true divine will” of the soul with Mercury giving a sense of purpose on how to direct this “wealth” is key in the formation of the “10 of Disks”. The Adam Kadmon (perhaps, the Hermit/perfected soul?) can be seen as the divine Self moving down and back up through the sephiroths and paths of the Tree of Life with each journey (re)cycling through altered layers of the “Self”.

What I find most important is HOW do we manage this “Wealth”? Do we fully distribute it for others to benefit from or securely hold on to it which could lessen its purpose? When thinking about this I recall in our TMT discussion the word “Legacy” came up. This seems fitting for the “10 of Disks” as I feel there is a lasting impression that can be left for others to gain from. The value of this experience is apparent, but will manifest in many ways based on how one creates their own Wealth.

The Disks/Coins/Pentacles are earth formed tools of the material + spiritual realm. Things are in a formative state based on how much time, value, and dedication we place into our investment.
In return, this inspires personal/financial security, how we value possessions, and what is needed to create stability and to build upon the foundation within our lives.
